Dance Classes

I am happy to arrange these for groups. I use Yasmina of Cairo, Mohamed Khazafy, Shalaby, Sara Farouk or Amani. I will price these in as options if you want an included dance class. Numbers will dictate where these are held - but it will be in a mirrored dance studio. The teachers I choose to use regularly all offer something completely different and are good teachers with a wealth of experience.

If you would like classes or private lessons with Raqia Hassan, Aida Nour, Randa, Soraya, Leila or Dina - these can all be arranged, however you would not pay for them as an inclusive part of your trip, you would pay at the time.

Yasmina of Cairo
Yasmina helps behind the scenes with my Cairo trips. She teaches internationally and is in great demand. Her teaching style is gentle and precise. Because she is English, it is easy for her to explain more complex concepts. She always has some fantastic new material when I take groups for a class with her. Feedback is always that Yasmina's classes give people great material to take away.

Mohamed Khazafy
Trained with the Reda troupe and was their principal male dancer for several years. He came to the UK with the Farha Tour which kick started his solo career. He is a great dancer with a mischievous sense of humour and an international teaching career. He teaches oriental as well as Reda style. I am on a mission to get folks to study as much Reda style as possible - many of the steps are building blocks to an Oriental dance career. He speaks good English and is a really good teacher.

Shalaby
Worked with the Reda troupe - and trained many of its dancers. I love his Saidi. Shalaby came to the UK several years ago. 'Kay I want to bring a horse', he told me. My pidgeon Arabic was not enough to understand it was a pantomime horse!! I was relieved when I eventually understood. He brought said horse to the UK .... you may have heard of her, 'Desiree', she has performed at many high profile events. Shalaby has limited English but loads of experience.

Sara Farouk
Sara made her name as teacher and performer in the UK (then Maureen O'Farrell). She moved to Egypt where she married her husband, Sherrif. Sara approaches dance and music in a different way to anyone else I know. I particularly love her dance sessions with Emad el Rashidy when he teaches you a song, then you dance to it. Sara makes things accessible that you never thought possible.

Amani
Amani was a professional dancer but gave it up when she got married. I am so sorry that I never saw her perform as you catch glimpses of what she must have been like in class. She was a much sought after performer and is a really good teacher. She can pitch things to the right level and will encourage those with less experience but push the most advanced dancer. The last few groups have had classes with her and loved every second.
