Farida Adventures

Who is Farida? ‘Farida’ means unique in Arabic, but it’s also the name Kay chose after one of her greatest inspirations: Farida Fahmy. Farida is the legendary principal female dancer of Egypt’s renowned Reda Troupe. Her legacy continues to thrive today through her published works on Egyptian culture. By naming these cultural journeys for dancers Farida Adventures, Kay wanted to honour that spirit of uniqueness and cultural celebration for herself and all those who join the adventures.

Kay Taylor
Kay has been running specialist bellydance trips to Egypt with Farida Adventures for nearly 25 years. Her small-group journeys are designed to help dancers experience Egypt beyond the usual tourist trail, with Kay on hand to guide, to support and to connect the group. From Cairos streets, clubs and cabarets to dancers, musicians, costumes, folklore and culture, Kays longstanding connections will help you discover the real Cairo and the dance world behind it.
Kay is on hand to ensure each trip runs smoothly – and to facilitate any additional requests dancers may have.

Each Farida Adventure is unique. Some trips are requested by teachers or groups, others include a range of activities chosen by Kay. Kay is happy to tailor trips to your requirements and can be costed on between 5 – 10 participants. For her Cairo based trips Kay takes a maximum of 12 people. The Egypt tours have up to 16 places. Kay prefers small groups to ensure everyone has a quality experience.

Yasmina of Cairo
Yasmina is a performer, teacher and choreographer in Egyptian oriental dance which includes over 25 years based in Cairo where she performed for nearly a decade with her orchestra. This gives her an insiders understanding of both the city and its dance scene. She has long supported Kays trips behind the scenes and now co-designs and runs the ‘Essence of Egypt’ trips with Kay.
From her dancer friendly B&B apartment to her deep cultural insight and local knowledge, Yasmina helps guests experience Cairo with authenticity, confidence and connection.

Nibal Abdel Aziz
Nibal is professional Egyptologist, tour guide and organiser with over 20 years experience guiding groups and individuals across Egypt. A long time friend of Kays, Nibal shares the same approach: to make every trip as rich, enjoyable and meaningful as possible.
Alongside her expert knowledge of Egypts ancient sites, she brings warmth, organisation, an insight into womens lives and a genuine love of Egyptian culture.

Aida Nour, Yasmina and Kay
